Financial assistance programmes
Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa Ltd for the realization of its own investment enterprises has used the support related to two of the following non-returnable aid funds:
- Regional Operational Programme of the Mazovian Voivodeship 2007-2013 – for the realization of the project entitled „The purchase of rail passenger rolling stock to operate the regional connection on the line of Warsaw Commuter Rail in the Warsaw Metropolitan Area” which refers to the purchase of 14 new electric traction units.
Project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development fund under the Regional Operational Programme of Mazovian Voivodeship (ROP Mazovia) 2007-2013 and means of State Budget. - Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme – for the realization of the project entitled „Development of the public transport in Warsaw metropolitan area through improvement of the WKD (Warsaw Commuter Railway) efficiency, reliability and safety”, which includes the purchase of 6 modern, electric train units to operate regional communications on WKD lines and installation of electronic information boards and Passenger Information and Monitoring System cameras at all stations and stops.
Project is supported by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged European Union.
About the Regional Operational Programme of the Mazovian Voivodeship 2007-2013:
Regional Operational Programme Mazovia is limited in its area to a voivodeship, here the Mazovian Voivodeship. Relevant Marshal Offices are the Managing Institutions for the regional programme. On behalf of the Management of Mazovian Voivodeship, its Department of Strategy and Regional Development in Warsaw performs the tasks of the Managing Institution. Managing Institution entrusted the Mazovian Unit of European Union Projects Implementation MUPI), as an agent II, with the implementation of ROP Mazovia.
Regional Operational Programme of the Mazovian Voivodeship has been under implementation since 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2013, as one of 16 regional operational programmes, which are targeted at executing the Strategy of Country Development and the National Strategic Framework of Reference 2007-2013 supporting economic progress and employment (National Cohesion Strategy), which results in economic progress and employment increase.
The programme reflects the development policy of the Mazovian Voivodeship, based on the Development Strategy of Mazovian Voivodeship until 2020 (DSMV). The programme shall realize the goals of DSMV, which are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Provisions of renewed Lisbon Strategy for the economic development and employment increase were taken into consideration at the time of designing the programme.

About the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme:
The Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme is a form of foreign assistance granted by Switzerland to Poland and 9 other European Union Member States that joined the EU on May 1, 2004. Under international agreement, concluded on Dec. 20, 2007 in Bern, over 1 milliard Swiss francs will go to the ten new member states, of which almost half (approximately 489 million CHF, or about 310 million euros) was designated to help Poland.
The aim of Swiss help is to reduce the economic and social disparities existing between Poland and the more developed EU countries, as well as differences on Polish territory - between urban centers and underdeveloped regions in structural terms. Co-financing of projects under the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme was possible for institutions of public and private sector and NGOs.
Under the SPPW was conducted 14 competitions, concerning the environment and infrastructure, regional development, health care, research, scholarships for researchers, support for non-governmental organizations and venture capital funds. Up to 14 June 2012, when the commitments deadline expired, Poland and Switzerland have signed a total of 58 contracts for a total amount of allocation available CHF 489 million. This allowed to contract 100 percent of budgets allocated to help Poland.
